Coalition for Family Justice
– is a non profit,
grassroots organization that focuses on making the court system
family and user friendly, locally, nationally and globally. It was founded in 1988 with
the idea of facilitating effective help to families in trouble,
especially children and family members impacted by domestic violence
and addictions, by forming a volunteer interdisciplinary team of
consumers, mediators, financial planners, lawyers, therapists
specializing in addictions, abuse, and child psychology. CFJ (501©3), and later the
National Coalition
(501©4) were started by an addiction specialist, and, a Radcliff
psychologist and writer, as a consequence of their combined
involuntary experiences and efforts over a period of many years in
the court system. To their increasing astonishment they discovered a
stunning incapacity of the court system to effectively address the
real needs of their families and as well as that of many other
families they had encountered in the courts. The Coalition is
dedicated to educating and helping its members obtain the fairest
possible outcomes for their families when dealing with the legal
system and to helping the legal system identify and address the real
needs of families, by minimizing the legal, emotional and financial
costs involved.
