Matrimonial
Hearings
On February
17, 2005, Coalition President Monica Getz,
Advisory Board Chair Robin Yeamans, Esq. and
Advisory Board Founder Susan Titus Glascoff
spoke at the White Plains public hearing on
problems in matrimonial litigation in New York
State.
Chief New
York State Judge Judith S. Kaye appointed the
Matrimonial Commission to
review
all aspects of
matrimonial litigation and make recommendations
for
improving how the courts handle
such
litigation in both Family
Court
and Supreme Court.
Part
of this process is public hearings to receive the views of interested individuals
and organizations
with
regard
to ways
to reduce “cost, delay and trauma to the parties,”
with
particular focus on custody
and visitation,
law guardians,
mediation and collaborative divorce. Hearings
schedule and transcripts can be accessed at
www.courts.state.ny.us/ip/matrimonial-commission .
